Jordan Guitars and Bass Guitars

From the late 1970s until 1981, I was mentored by and apprenticed with Ervin Somogyi who is regarded as one of the best living steel string acoustic guitar makers. In 1981, I launched my own business. I value and recognize the contributions of the all the luthiers who came before me and shaped me directly or indirectly and I can’t help but draw inspiration from them. That said, I’m not interested in making precise historical replicas of existing designs. There are plenty of luthiers in both the violin and guitar world pursuing that path and I can direct any interested customer towards those luthiers. Rather than developing a series of standardized models, I prefer to begin every guitar or bass guitar as a blank sheet of paper where everything is a possibility and the best design for each customer is arrived at individually. These will of course still have some ties to established design traditions but become unique instruments because the endless possible design elements combine into a singular instrument unlike any other. This approach limits the number of guitars and bass guitars I can build compared to luthiers who build batches of same model instruments. No single construction approach is inherently better, but my approach suits me and my customers. Since I don’t offer standardized models, the price of every instrument is quoted individually. As a useful guideline, solid body guitars and bass guitars start at $3,000, flat top nylon and steel string guitars start at $6,000 and arch top steel string guitars start at $10,000. More elaborate versions of these instruments with expensive exotic materials, complicated design features, and/or hand cut artistic inlays can easily double these guideline prices.
